Reviews for ACDelco 214-2149 Professional Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid (Automotive) I purchased this ACDelco Evaporative Emission Canister Solenoid because I was receiving the P0446 & P0449 trouble code's on my 2007 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab. I travel down dusty roads alot and these Chevy's have this canister located right where dust gets sucked right in. It then clogs the mechanism in the sensor and triggers the engine light. This 20 dollar part is the fix. Heat up the existing hose that attaches to this and pull.
BTW: Its saying on Amazon and other parts list verification that this doesn't fit 2007 Chevy Silverdo 1500 V8 Crew cab's, but it's exactly what fit and fixed mine so it's confirmed.
Reviews for ACDelco 214-2149 Professional Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid (Automotive) After a little researching of the check engine code, I was able to trace it to this cheap little part. Originally I had taken my truck to the dealership. The service manager looked up the code and quoted me a total repair price of $360.00. He also claimed that they would have to "drop" the gas tank in order to access the part. That was total BS. The part is located under the truck bed just in front of the gas tank. It is easier to access than your air filter. So after this part, 6in" of 5/8" hose, 2 hose clamps, and 15 minutes of my time, I was able to fix the error code for about $25.00. Do yourself a favor and buy this cheap fix and save a ton of money. Note: This is the ORIGINAL solenoid. There is an updated part that took the place of this one (due to the awful original design, GM should do a recall) . The cost is approx. $80.00 and you will need about 6 ft. of 5/8" hose. I chose the cheaper version because I do not drive in dusty conditions that often. I have also stopped topping off my fuel tank. Once the pump stops, hang the nozzle up. If you continue to add fuel after the pump stops, it will overflow into the solenoid and cause it to stop working.

I love it when Amazon saves me some money. Thanks to them and the previous comments/reviews about this "problem" canister with the GM products.
I generally don't like just throwing parts at a problem without correct diagnosis first. After inquiring with the dealer and finding that checking out the system with the smoke test would be near $100 not counting any repair or needed parts. Since I experienced no runability issues I wasn't "that" concerned.
After reading the common causes of throwing the PO449 and PO455 codes (on my 2006 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3L V8) was this vapor canister (I ruled out the gas cap issue) and seeing the reasonable Amazon cost I decided to give it a try. So I ordered the Delco 214-2149 Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid.
Like others, I noticed that NONE of the part listings indicate that this was the correct part for my truck. It turns out to be an exact replacement. In fact since I plan on keeping this truck for many more years I ordered 2 units as this gave me the added benefit of free shipping. I must admit that I may never need the second unit because I will no longer top off my tank as I have done in the past!
On this Extended Cab version of this Sierra I found my original unit mounted just to the very rear of the fuel tank. I managed to re-use the original air line after several minutes of the heat gun and a lot of pulling. I did mean a lot of pulling, a lot of heat gun, then a little cussing and finally the old unit pulled free. It would have likely been easier and faster just to cut and replace the line as others have indicated.
I might caution the folks that may not realize that if you don't have the tool to clear the error codes the system may take several "drive cycles" before the light goes off on your dash. In other words just drive the thing as normal and within a few days it will likely clear the code. Mine killed the dash light upon the fourth drive cycle.
